Wellington Basketball, in conjunction with the Wellington City Council, will run a summer streetball series with former NBL legend and current Junior Tall Blacks coach Kenny McFadden around the Capital during the holiday period. New Zealand NBL in trouble
The current economic climate is having a significant impact on the National Basketball League in New Zealand. The Otago, Canterbury and Hawke’s Bay franchises all failed to pay the initial five thousand dollar start-up fee on Tuesday because of financial issues. NBL board chairman Sam Rossiter-Stead says they’ve given the three franchises until 5pm Friday to confirm their participation in the league. ..read more..

A former Rangitoto College student on Auckland’s North Shore, Marks became the first New Zealander in the NBA when he was selected 44th overall by the New York Knicks in the 1998 draft.
