Breakers leave comeback too late
A second half comeback wasn’t enough to prevent the New Zealand Breakers losing 101-94 tonight to the South Dragons, their fifth Australian National Basketball League loss in six matches this year. Breakers worn down by the Tigers in fight for second place
The Breakers face an uphill battle to stay in the hunt for second place in the Aussie NBL after losing by eighteen points to the Melbourne Tigers at home. With both teams fighting for second place on the ladder the first quarter was the closely fought battle that was expected, tied up at 29 all. The Tigers couldn’t keep Kirk Penney away from the 3 point line, but Chris Anstey was just as effective for the defending champions. Marks back starting in NBA
New Zealand’s Sean Marks has made a breakthrough of sorts after making his first start in a National Basketball Association (NBA) match for nearly seven years. Consigned to a minor roles off the bench for much of his nine-year NBA career, the former Tall Blacks centre started for the New Orleans Hornets at home to the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday.
